The Sarasota Millionaires have their first of two bye weeks this Saturday after three games of the UFF season. The Millionaires bounced back from a tough loss to the Bay Area Pirates with a convincing 38-12 victory over the Florida Veterans last Saturday in Port Charlotte.
Quarterback Mario Davis threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for two more as the offense got back on track. The Millionaires “Blackout” defense held the Veterans in check in allowing just 12 points.
The Millionaires sit atop the UFF’s Southern Conference West Division with a 2-1 record. They will get ready to play the Florida Stingrays in Ft. Myers on March 9. Sarasota’s next home game will be Saturday March 16 against the Broward County Cowboys at Booker High School.
I was invited to appear on “The Amateur Football Weekly” radio show hosted by Mark Trueblood this week to talk about the Sarasota Millionaires and covering minor league football in Florida. Click here to listen to the podcast.
The Millionaires will hold regular practices this week and next on Tuesday and Thursday evenings to get ready for their next game.
