Sarasota-Manatee USBC women's tourney to be held March 23-24

Prospective entrants for the Sarasota-Manatee County USBC Bowling Association's annual women's championship tournament should be making final plans to participate.

The event will be conducted March 23-24 at AMF Gulf Gate Lanes, and the final entry deadline has been set for midnight of March 22.

The one-weekend tournament has an entry fee of $20 per woman per event -- in singles, doubles and five-player team competition -- plus optional $5 all-events fees, both scratch and handicap (90 percent of 220).

There will be two Saturday squads, at noon and 4 p.m., while there will be only one squad on Sunday, starting at 1 p.m.

Team event will be contested in one division, while there will be two average divisions in singles and doubles. Singles entrants with averages of 165 and up will be placed in Class A, while those at 164 and under will compete in Class B. In doubles, teams with combined averages of 326 and up will enter Class A, while those with averages of 325 and under will go into Class B.

Multiple participation will be permitted only in the team event, as long as no more than three individuals from one team are entered on a subsequent team.

Next Bobby Combs Century Doubles tourney is Sunday at AMF Gulf Gate

Doubles teams with combined ages of 100 or more are eligible to take part in the Bobby Combs Century Doubles tournament on Sunday (March 17) at AMF Gulf Gate Lanes.

The tourney is open to all current members of the United States Bowling Congress, and competition will begin at 2 p.m.

The format will be three games of handicap (90 percent of 220) play, and entry fee will be $30 per team, plus $5 per bowler for each entry into the optional Alibi Doubles event, in which bowlers use scores rolled by other (non-partner) tournament competitors for qualifying on a separate prize list.

Pre-entries are suggested, but walk-ins will be accepted, and it is requested that entrants check in at least 45 minutes prior to starting time.
