Another actress has been tapped to star in The CW's new pilot for The Selection, and this time it's British actress Sarah Winter who joins in for the sweet girl role of Ashley Brovillette. In Kiera Cass' book, the character was one chosen to compete for the hand of Prince Maxon, the heir to the throne of Illea, who protagonist America Singer buddies up with from the outset.
Sarah Winter is a relative newcomer to the industry, but she has starred in several TV movies and short films. She joins Yael Grobglas, Celia Massingham, Michael Malarkey, Lucien Laviscount, Sean Patrick Thomas, Anthony Head and Peta Sergeant among the network's announced cast for the second pilot effort.
The CW ordered up another go at making The Selection into a show after filming an original pilot last year and declining to pick up the series. Sean Patrick Thomas is the only hold over from the original cast line-up. Alex Graves will direct.
Set 300 years in the future, an epic romance centering on a working class young woman chosen by lottery to participate in a competition with 25 other women for the Royal Prince’s hand to become the nation’s next queen. Balancing her loyalty to family, true love, and kingdom, she must attempt to remain true to herself as she navigates the cutthroat competition and palace intrigue, all while a budding rebellion threatens to topple the crown."
Book two of the series, The Elite, will hit shelves on April 23.
