Sarah Paulson plays two-headed Bette/Dot on 'AHS: Freak Show'

According to her tweet today, Sarah Paulson will get her freak on next fall on "American Horror Story: Freak Show," presumably as conjoined twins. The pic shows her with two heads and the caption, "So excited to be playing Bette AND Dot this season. Two heads are better than one!"

Fans of the show know that although many of the actors return, the plot, characters, and setting change each season. Paulson previously played a psychic in Murder House, a heroic lesbian journalist and last "man" standing in Asylum, and the new Supreme witch in Coven.

Next season's Freak Show will feature Jessica Lange as a German expatriate who operates one of the last freak shows in the U.S., in the 1950s in Jupiter, Florida (although filming will be in New Orleans, since the cast had such a great time there last year with Coven). According to Enstarz, her entourage will face "evil forces who do not understand them." Lange won an Emmy for Murder House (season 1) and, after headlining Asylum (season 2) and Coven (season 3) says that upcoming season 4 will be her last.

Returning cast includes Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Denis O'Hare, Gabourey Sidibe, Frances Conroy, Emma Roberts, and Jamie Brewer. Entertainment Weekly reports a bearded lady and a character called The Clown Killer, “the most terrifying clown ever” (according to creator Ryan Murphy). Sounds perfect for newcomer Michael Chiklis, no? Chiklis and Bates portray Peters' parents, and O'Hare will be a collector of freaks and clash with Lange (according to Vulture). And who will sport the facial hair? Lange? Bates?

Also up for speculation, who will heartthrob Peters be matched with romantically next season? With his boyish good looks, his Coven character Kyle looked hot even when spread out in pieces on a table! Word is that Taissa Farmiga, his romantic interest in both Murder House and Coven, won't be returning for Freak Show. Will he hookup onscreen with his real life fiancee Roberts, or someone else?

Freak Show premieres in October. Based on the Murder House and Asylum releases, the Coven DVD will likely appear a week or two prior.
