Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston may be trying their relationship again and announcing their engagement but Sarah Palin is not ready to forgive. Bristol Palin, 19, and Levi Johnston have had a very public relationship since the birth of their now eighteen month old son, Tripp.

The couple has publicly attacked each other through the media for nearly two years however, during custody negotiations the couple reunited and has decided to give it another go. Palin tells PEOPLE that Johnston has made “tons and tons of progress” stating, “...he'll change a diaper without me even having to tell him, or he'll take him when I need a 15-minute break, or he'll come over and help with Tripp, and all that stuff is just so much appreciated.”

When asked if the former vice president hopeful, Sarah Palin, has also mended this bridge, Bristol Palin states, “With her, his actions will have to speak louder than words…..and he'll have to get his education and a job and be willing to support Tripp the right way. And then I think she'll come around.”

Sarah Palin made her feelings of Johnston clear publically as well after Johnston spoke out on CBS’s The Morning Show in October 2009 against her and her family.

Though Sarah Palin has not made any comments regarding the news or the public apology Johnston made earlier this month, the Palin family did however issue a statement to NBC News, saying, “Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what’s best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our daily lives.”
