Sarah Palin, and her Big Gulp, addressed a crowd of conservatives on Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference, reported CNN on March 16. In an effort to mock New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's super-sized soda ban the former Governor of Alaska, and Republican Party nominee for Vice President in the 2008 presidential election, drank from a Big Gulp before she started her CPAC speech. "It's just pop with low cal ice cubes in it. I hope that's okay," said Palin.
The 49-year-old Palin has never been shy about her feelings toward what would be considered liberal ideologies. However, the woman who was once the hottest ticket for conservatives and Republicans is still hot, but she's no longer the star she once was. Comments such as her accusing journalists and pundits of "manufacturing a blood libel" didn't help her. Said Abraham Foxman, National Director of the Anti-Defamation League, "While the term 'blood-libel' has become part of the English parlance to refer to someone being falsely accused, we wish that Palin had used another phrase, instead of one so fraught with pain in Jewish history."
Bloomberg's super-sized soda ban has reached a wall and was struck down by State Supreme Court Justice Milton Tingling. "The loopholes in this rule effectively defeat the stated purpose of this rule," said Tingling.
