Considering that Sarah Palin has spent some time working as a correspondent for Fox News, it really shouldn't be that much of a surprise that the former Alaska Governor / hand note-writer would make an appearance at the Daytona 500. Why? Fox broadcasts the even to millions of homes across the country. Even more importantly, diehard NASCAR fans (which are largely in the heartland of America) are a group of people Palin will need in a potential 2012 Presidential election.
During her time at Daytona Palin visited pit crews, talked with drivers, and even attended a pre-driver meeting. Never one to stay completely away from politics, John McCain's former running mate had this to say about the ordeal:
"This is awesome...It's all-Americana event. Good, patriotic, wonderful event that's bringing a whole lot of people together. I think this is good for our country."
Of course, it's the job of every political figure to unite us -- even if it is by watching cars turn left on a course for 500 laps.
What did you think of Sarah Palin attending Daytona: was it a fun appearance, or a political game? Feel free to share your thoughts below.
