According to the Washington Post on Saturday, Sarah Palin – the former governor of Alaska and former GOP vice presidential running mate with Sen. John McCain’s presidential run in 2008 – electrified the Republicans at the CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) in suburban Washington, D.C. Appropriately doing her speaking job at the conference, she blasted President Barack Obama on many topics.
Her hard-hard comments touched on contemporary issues such as gun control and governmental-White House non-transparency. Memorable highlights of her presentation included her echoing of Republican Rep. Joe Wilson’s interrupting comment during an Obama speech before Congress in 2009 when he blurted out the words, “You lie!” which were boldly and firmly directed at the president. When speaking of Obama’s four-year-old promise to be transparent at CPAC on Saturday, Palin shouted, “Barack Obama, you lie!”
Other politicians who have been taking the liberal route lately also were attacked, one way or another, by Palin. For example, it was a visual defiance toward New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg when Palin stopped speaking, reached in her podium, and took several drinks from a huge “Big Gulp” cup – the size of a sugary soft drink that Bloomberg controversially wanted ban in New York City for health reasons. During her drinking from the big cup, she got one of her most raucous responses from the conservative crowd that she received all day.
Palin proved she still inspires and can definitely get reactions from her conservative base with the cheers and multiple standing ovations she received during her speech.
In summation, Palin – during one of her direct comments to the president – said, “You won. We get it. Now step away from the teleprompter and do your job!”
Besides the former governor of Alaska and former vice presidential candidate for the GOP, Sarah Palin had been a political commentator for the FOX News organization.
