In her recent visit to California, Sarah Palin sat down for another "interview" with a friendly conservative host. Palin regularly stipulates that any questions must be submitted to her team and pre-approved before any speaking engagements, so the questions hardly ever come as a surprise. In addition, the interviewers typically have a political crush on Palin (and maybe more), so what audiences receive is a promotional, infomercial-style interview rather than a genuine question-and-answer period. Palin's most recent interview took a twist, however, when the interviewer had problems with his voice while asking the questions. In the video to the left Palin, proceeds to take the questions and interview herself, which she describes as her "dream."
What is really ironic about the interview is that Palin manages to lie in the "gotcha" interview she gives herself. Palin asks herself, "What do you really read?" Palin then describes how she was asked "What do you really read?" in a national interview. The "national interview" in question is the infamous Katie Couric interview with Palin in the middle of the 2008 campaign. That interview was generally seen as the start of Palin's downfall, when many voters came to see her as unqualified because of her strange and incorrect answers to many questions. When answering her own question in the video to the left, Palin claims that she rolled her eyes at Couric because the question was so condescending.
The problem with Palin's claim is that it is simply not true. The video of the exchange in question between Couric and Palin can be seen here. As the video shows, the actual interview with Couric went quite differently than how Palin portrayed it:
Couric: "What magazines and newspapers do you regularly read before you were tapped for this, to stay informed and to understand the world?"
Palin: Most of them again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media."
Couric: "What specifically? I'm curious did you..."
Palin: "Uhm...all of them. Any of them that have been in front of me over all these years. Uhm, I have a vast variety of sources where we get our news to...."
Then Palin does start to get defensive suddenly, saying that Alaska is not "some foreign country", where they do not get their news like the rest of the America. At no point does Palin roll her eyes. On the contrary, Palin seems to be stumped by the question, possibly because she was not reading any periodicals to keep up with the news before she was picked to be vice president. Then, sensing she was stumped, Palin goes into a "mama grizzly" attack mode, accusing the interviewer of stereotyping her as an Alaskan when, in fact, Couric simply asked about what she read.
In this case it will be interesting to see if Palin claims again that she was caught with a "gotcha" question, since the interviewer was herself.

Only friendly, hand-picked journalists may ask her questions and even then their questions must be pre-approved in advance, so she can prepare her canned answers, to the delight of her handful of viewers who like to point out she doesn't use a teleprompter. Why should she, when she has memorized her answers to pre-approved questions? (Even so, she still has her hand to scribble on, just in case!!) But now, she's proven she can't even handle a self-interview with pre-approved questions. Wow. Talk about lowering the bar even more!!! It's a good thing she's not really doing anything important and doesn't have to be responsible for herself.
Lie? Sarah? She never does anything but lie...she's pathological, or would be except for the 'logical' part of that word. I can hardly wait for her precious morons to get the boot in two weeks, and watch her stock fall at the speed of light, just like in Alaska when oil prices dropped and she couldn't raise enough tax money to reward her minions with a second hefty check. Money is what drives Palin and the Republicans. It's theirs, don't touch it, and if you aren't a millionaire elitist like Palin, don't look to her for anything other than bumper sticker rhetoric that means nothing. Of course she wants more tax cuts...she's in the big bracket now. You think she cares about anyone else? She can't even be bothered to raise her own kids.

Weird how the Palin supporters don't even try to address any of Palin's inconsisties or statements, they just go on the attack. Don't like Palin? Well, you must love the Taliban. (What kind of argument is that??) Don't like Palin? Well, you must be jealous. (Of what?)
I don't like Palin. Here's why:
1) She shows no respect for her president. She doesn't have to agree with him or even like him, but she should show respect.
2) She shows little respect for other people who do not share her philosophies. She calls them names. She wishes them ill. She manufactures ridiculous claims about how "they" would want to kill her son and others like him, and she is not above making factless accusations and insinuations about other people's characters. In fact, she inspires people to wish violence and spread rumors on her behalf.
3) She lies if it suits her. A prime example is her claim about a death panel being part of the Obama care bill, something debunked many times over and called the Lie of the Year. She lied about saying "thanks but no thanks" to money from the bridge to nowhere, something she campaigned FOR when running for governor, and money she KEPT even though she agreed with Congress that building the bridge was a waste of time. She stated as governor that she wouldn't meet with lobbyists, but what she meant was that she wouldn't meet with them in her office in Juneau. She stated as governor she did not hold closed doors meetings but held them all the time. I could go on, but these things are all on public record.
4) She QUIT her elected public office for the noble cause of writing a book, and going on speaking tours. She claimed she would be able to do more for Alaska out of office and that she would be saving them money. She has not done anything for Alaska yet, and she has not saved them money. Her ethics violations continue to cost the state money and it cost the state money to install a new governor.
5) She refuses to take responsibility for her words or her actions. It's always some else's fault, always.
6) She won't be accountable to the press. She will only talk to handpicked press respresentatives and only if she pre-approves their questions in advance.
7) She takes pride in her ignorance. It took her several years to get through college, which could and should be excused for any adult with a job and other obligations, HOWEVER, her scorn for anyone with a higher degree, her inability to articulate a complete, grammatically correct sentence, and her lack of knowledge (or at least her inability to display any depth of knowledge) are not things to be proud of.
8) She is not a good role model as a parent. I'm not talking about Bristol's pregnancy. I'm talking about her flying thousands of miles while leaking amniotic fluid (her words, from her book) while in labor with a high risk, special needs baby. I'm talking about her using her children as props on her campaign tour and her setting them out in the public eye for ridicule. (Remember when she tossed out a puck in PA for a hockey game and people began to boo her? The first thing she said was "How dare they boo Piper." How is that not using her child? Nobody was booing a five year old girl.) I'm talking about her failure to install any ethics in her children. Her oldest son was given the option of military or jail when he vandalized school buses. Her middle daughter was caught drinking and driving before she even old enough to drive. Her oldest daughter supposedly runs a PR firm, works for a local dentist, and makes money giving speeches and "working" in Hollywood, yet demanded and received a whopping monthly child support payment from the father of her child.
9) She compares herself to Reagan. Reagan was governor of California for eight years - two FULL terms - before he successfully ran for the presidency. He knew how to display his knowledge and his command of the English in his speeches AND he knew how to work both sides of the aisle.
10) She ran up a lot of legan bills because of her own poor behavior - abusing her power in office, billing the state for her kids and her husband just for two examples - failing to adhere to rules she helped set in place. She made millions in booksales and speeches yet she wants other people to pay her legal bills for her.
That's why I don't Palin. If that sounds like jealousy to you, you didn't read what I said.
First of all, are you a parent? I know plenty of good parents who's children act out. I am one of them. Are you a Saint? Never knew anyone who drank and drove? C'mon!
Secondly, You must be really ignorant regarding the Healthcare bill. I wonder if you have actually read it like I did? What Sara Palin says is completely legitimate. There will be panels within "Health and Human Services" who will decide who gets what procedure. It is based on age...Another name for this would be "Death Panels". It is irrelevant whether you like the suggestion or not if it's true. Are you REALLY that NIEVE?? To further my point, think about how insurance companies can afford to cover everyone on the same dime even those with very expensive pre-existing conditions? It is IMPOSSIBLE! insurance companies will fail because it is unsustainable! This is the plan and it will work beautifully to DESTROY our choice in healthcare. Insurance companies fail and our government becomes our unsympathetic stepparent, deciding who gets what. Furthermore because Socialized healthcare=government run care, millions of woman will now die from breast cancer-(health and human services changes care visit from age 40 to 50), prostate cancer, heart disease. Does this sound sympathetic to you?

Regarding Palin's legal bills...She resigned from office because her state was being relentlessly attack by the Democratic party. In turn, she saved her state millions. Furthermore when she was governor she put the state airlplane on ebay. The press love to villanize her based on misinformation. The interview with Katy Couric was a gotch moment. Katy Couric is a mean, nasty liberal who has no stomach for the truth. Palin is a threat because she tells the truth and she is a true conservative. She has power and the left will do whatever to shut her down because they cannot lose. To say that she was lying about what she reads is ridiculous. She was never a polished politician. I know, you prefer someone like Obama who will obsessively deceive you saying things like,"You can keep your doctor" or "Your insurance will not go up". Seen your premiums go up yet? Most have. Most doctors will also leave because their pay will be cut to the bare minimun.

Lastly, why not try attacking the REAL enemy such as Nancy Pelosi. Her comments such as "We have to pass the bill to see what's in it." Are you kidding me? News alert, raising tax rates and raising taxes are two different things. I was involved in Reagan's campaigns and it burns me to hear revisionist Marxists lie about the real Reagan. Reagan raised taxes through cutting the tax rates. Let me explain this to you in Wal-mart terms so you can understand. Low taxes mean more economic growth. More economic growth means more people working and more goods being produced and sold. More people working and more goods being produced and sold mean more revenue from taxes. To sat today's economy is the worst means you are either ignorant or a liar--take your pick. Take the economy of Jimmy Carter, increase the unemployment and shoot inflation to 14.5% and you will know how bad it was. In the early 1980's you could not get a mortgage for less than 12% and even McDonalds was not hiring. And to think the fed is now thinking the way out of this is to start printing more money and raising interest rates! Even the former Soviet Union member states are not that stupid anymore.

Happens all the time - people are denied life saving coverage or are dropped from their coverage because they get sick. Obama care had a clause regarding voluntary information about end of life options. Sarah Palin twisted it into death panels.
The interview with Katie Couric was a disaster from all standpoints, but that was not Katie Couric's fault. Even if Sarah Palin had said she reads the Wasilla Frontiersman, she would have said she read something. I can name several things I read, and I read a lot. If Sarah gets flustered over an easy question, how can anyone think she'll be able to handle hard ones? Hardly a "gotcha question." Honestly, how can any intelligent person defend that?
Yes, I have children. And guess what? One is disabled. Did I get an airplane while I pregnant? Um, no, and my doctor told me with all of my kids that flying after the seventh month was risky and NEVER after the eighth month. Am I a saint? No, but I don't pretend to be without fault either, and I don't go around blaming other people for my shortcomings. Are my kids saints? No, but I'll say this - NONE of them have been hauled into court for any reason, and they know better than to drink and drive.
Regarding the whole health care debate - I am not "nieve" (the word is naive) and I never said that health care companies will pay for everyone "on the same dime", whatever that means, and Obama has not said no one's health insurance would go up. I do disagree with the idea that buying insurance should be mandatory, but I completely agree that everyone should be able to get coverage and stay covered. My insurance premiums have regularly gone up 5- 25% per year since I've been buying it, and the highest increase was seven years ago (25% increase), long before the insurance companies had Obama as an excuse. Is our current system perfect? Not by a long shot. Will Obama care make it perfect? Not by a long shot. But I wasn't the one debating this issue - you are, and you obviously have little idea of what you're taking about. Sarah Palin's whole death panel crap was just that - crap - and as I said, it's been debunked. It wasn't and isn't part of Obama care, but it was defintely the way insurance companies like to operate.
I can see you're angry. That's fine, but try making some sense and stop attacking me and other people just because we don't agree with Sarah Palin. When you're ready to act like an adult and use reasoned, proveable arguments to debate my arguments, I'm here listening.
Lower taxes for EVERYONE means economic growth, unless people don't use that extra money in their pockets to pay down their bills instead of flat screen tvs.
Any other tax plan is meaningless. Reagan's trickle down economics helped bring us to the place we are today, because businesses had more money to expand - overseas.
