Sarah Palin called 'borderline lunatic' by Newsweek reporter

Liberal pundits agree: Sarah Palin is horrible.  Some might even say deranged.

Newsbusters reported that on New Year's Eve, Newsweek's Julia Reed called her a "borderline lunatic" on CNN's All the Best, All the Worst of 2010.

Newsweek recently released a cover naming President Obama "God of All Things."

Tim Graham posted a transcript of the relevant portion:

TOM FOREMAN, CNN ANCHOR: Best pounding of the pundits.

SARAH PALIN: Whoo, Nevada.

FOREMAN: Sarah Palin.

JULIA REED, NEWSWEEK: A borderline lunatic.

JULIE CHEN, CBS: Love her or hate her, she's definitely entertaining.

FOREMAN: The hockey mom gone rogue proved all the predictions of her political demise dead wrong, surging in prominence in Republican and Tea Party circles, giving us a new book, a new word of the year, refudiate, and even a new reality show.

RICH EISEN, NFL NETWORK: I think Sarah Palin would say she's not doing a reality show, she's -- she's showing you the peaks and valleys in the -- the -- the indigenous life of -- of Alaska. And by that I mean her husband, I think.

KATHLEEN PARKER: I think she is a brilliant politician. I think she has an instinct for the zeitgeist and for what people need to hear. But I don't see her as a serious political figure.

Is Julia Reed an expert in mental health as well as a Newsweek reporter?

Graham concludes by writing:

The biggest cliche came as CNN's year-end analysts were asked about their wishes for the New Year. CBS's Julie Chen simply said "Stop the hate. Stop the bullying. And just give peace a chance."

How ironic.

The Blaze reported a similar exchange on MSNBC.

While Ken Vogel of Politico gave a more balanced opinion, MSNBC pundit Karen Hunter could not hide her disgust and said she prayed Palin would "go away" for "the sake of the country" prompting the host to agree.  "I don't think you're alone on that one," she said.

Recently, Fox News pundit Juan Williams attacked Palin's mental capacity when he said:

"There's nobody out there, except for Sarah Palin, who can absolutely dominate the stage, and she can't stand on the intellectual stage with Obama."

This, then, is going to be the standard liberal line going into the 2012 election.  Never mind that Barack Obama cannot put together two words without the help of a teleprompter and never mind his many gaffes (57 states, the non-existent Austrian language, etc.).

Nothing Palin will ever do or say will change these pundits minds.  If anything, the mindless attacks will only get worse.  These pundits are apparently unable to refute her positions, so they resort to the personal attacks.  Obviously, that is all they have.

Palin speaks to the concerns many Americans have about the direction of the country, and she speaks as one of us.

In a Washington Times op-ed, Dr. Milton Wolf - President Obama’s second cousin - said that Sarah Palin was correct about the so-called "death panels":

The liberal talking class continued to mock Mrs. Palin and her supposedly mythical death panels, that is, until liberal icon and former Enron adviser Paul Krugman let the cat out of the bag that death panels are indeed a reality and, in his ghoulish vision, killing off senior citizens and taxing the survivors is a solution to America’s debt problem: “Some years down the pike, we’re going to get the real solution, which is going to be a combination of death panels and sales taxes.” This gives a chilling new meaning to death and taxes. Suddenly the inharmonious left fell silent.

David Solway writes that, "there is probably no one more qualified for the White House than Sarah Palin. But is she electable?"

More to the point, will she be able to overcome the coordinated attacks by the mainstream media-Democratic Party complex sufficiently to convince enough voters she is right for the job?

I don't think she is a lunatic, however I am not a fan of hers.

Such great points. Talk about hate groups, I think the Palin hate group is about as big as the Bush group was. The hatred for this woman even spills over to Bristol and in the form of terrible comments about Trig. I don't necessarily want Palin as President, at least not at this point, but she is wonderful at expressing common sense. "Palin speaks to the concerns many Americans have about the direction of the country, and she speaks as one of us." Very brilliant person, much more so than Obama.

If Sarah Palin is a lunatic, then give us hundreds more. When someone told Lincold that General Grant was allegedly drunk during a battle (which he won), he said to send barrels of whiskey to the rest of his generals.
Sarah Palin has a close knit family, and was a very successful governor of Alaska, who put the people over business interests.
If she's a lunatic, why has she made millions off her books?
    Send in more lunatics.

    Good point, Bill.
