Sarah Michelle Gellar signed to co-star in Robin Williams comedy pilot

Robin Williams now has a daughter, or at least, the David E. Kelley comedy "The Crazy Ones," which Williams is returning to TV in, does. Sarah Michelle Gellar is set to co-star as Williams' daughter in the workplace comedy, it was reported on Monday.

Gellar, of course, is best known for her vampire-slaying days on "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," the TV series. In the new series, which still has to pass the "pilot test," a father and daughter run an advertising agency together. Gellar will play Sydney Roberts; Williams will play her father, Simon.

"The Crazy Ones," "Mad Men," is there a trend there in terms of the titles of TV series that are somehow associated with advertising?

David E. Kelley ("Picket Fences," "Ally McBeal," "Boston Legal") is scripting the single-camera pilot, and will executive produce alongside Dean Lorey, Bill D'Elia, John Montgomery and Mark Teitelbaum. Jason Winer ("Modern Family") will direct the pilot.

James Wolk of "Political Animals" will co-star as Zach Cropper, a copywriter at the agency.

Gellar was last seen on TV in the thriller "Ringer," which was cancelled by the CW. As noted above, the series has yet to get a green light, although the weight of Williams will carry much.

Williams is just the latest big-name star to return to TV; Michael J. Fox's series went straight to series, sans pilot. Rosanne Barr also has a series coming to NBC.
