Sarah Jessica Parker Busted? The Sex and the City star and real-life fashionista is headed back to the small screen in a new television series. The title for the new show is Busted, and it takes its name from the non-fiction book on which it is based, Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love. The book was penned by Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, a pair of investigative reporters. The content of the book was initially published as a series of articles, which earned its authors a Pulitzer Prize.
Busted will feature a pair of leading characters. Sarah Jessica Parker is the first to be cast for one of the roles. According to a June 25, 2014 report by The Hollywood Reporter, the role of the other leading character set to appear aside Sarah Jessica Parker in Busted has yet to be cast.
The 49-year-old actress is best known for the role of Carrie Bradshaw in the HBO Sex and the City series and the movies of the same name. She has been married to actor Matthew Broderick since 1997, and she was involved in a doomed relationship with Iron Man actor Robert Downey, Jr. from 1984 until 1991. Their ill-fated relationship ended in great part to Downey's drug addiction, which has been a difficult struggle for the handsome actor for decades despite his success.
Parker also appeared on the popular musical television series Glee! and the big-screen flicks Failure to Launch, Did You Hear About the Morgans? and The Family Stone, among numerous other films. In addition, she has reportedly been cast in the upcoming flick Mixtape, which will film in New York City, according to IMDb. The site describes the plot of Mixtape as, "A 12 year old girl [sic] finds a broken mixtape belonging to the mother she never knew. She decides to track down each of the tape's obscure songs in an effort to find out what her mother was like, leading to a reconciliation with the aunt who raised her."
Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love is enjoying brisk sales on Amazon, and it has earned overwhelmingly positive reviews from its readers. The site describes the tale as " . . . the shocking true story of the biggest police corruption scandal in Philadelphia history, a tale of drugs, power, and abuse involving a rogue narcotics squad, a confidential informant, and two veteran journalists whose reporting drove a full-scale FBI probe, rocked the City of Brotherly Love, and earned a Pulitzer Prize."
