America's Got Talent

September 16, 2010 -- Jackie Evancho didn't win America's Got Talent. She came in second place but her duo with Sarah Brightman was worth more to the young performer than you might imagine. In an after interview on KNBC she told reporters it was the perfect dream of a young singer to come true.

Pairing the finals contestant up with an celebrity entertainer proved to be some good wholesome fun for the audience. Jackie Evancho and Sarah Brightman seemed to be a bit lopsided as Jackie seemed to be stronger vocally than Brightman for the piece and it was obvious to everyone.

The performance had those people who loved the young girl asking why Jackie didn't win. While there is no answer to that question, we will be seeing Jackie again as she is bound to get a recording contract.

Take a peek at the performance below and be prepared with a tissue, just in case!

It was unbelievable had poorly Sarah Brightman sang. AWFUL!

Brightman has totally lost her voice. It was a complete embarassment!

Sarah Brightman did what a true professional would do; she melded and orchestrated her vocals with the 10 year old Jackie Evancho. She did not try to overwhelm her much younger' less experienced singing partner, because she understood implicitly that the moment was about Jackie, not about her.

That is a selfless and professional act. Too many of today's supremely egotistic and self-absorbed entertainers would have even understood the issue, much less acted upon it.

    HOW SAD!

I agree with you, Jberger. I think Sarah was very brave and selfless to come out and sing with Jackie. For a pro to come out and sing with a child is all risk and no gain. Sarah likely has problems maintaining consistency since the problem she had with vocal cord nodules and the subsequent surgery (2004). Sarah Brightman has been a great star and it's unfair to make comparisons based on this one performance. Having said that, Jackie is a prodigy. Her vocal skills for sure are undeniable but I would go further and suggest that her listening abilities seem to be extraordinary. I can see this in her beautiful diction and her ability to sing in Italian. She is an 'Angel from another planet'.

Anyone who picks on Brightman or her performance is completely misguided. She struggled, yes! But in truth she did not come there to be the star. It seems to me by all I witnessed she came there out of appreciation of Jackie. I mentioned on Jackie's videos early on that it would be magic if Sarah Brightman walked on stage and surprised Jackie during a farewell song. It didn't happen exactly that way, but I think it will rank with the most important moments of Jackie's young and imcomplete life. Look at the video on YouTube where Brightman's SUV pulls up and she gets out and greets Jackie. You can't get any more "wide-eyed" than that! Brightman had risk in doing this. She did not honor herself; she honored Jackie Evancho. I honor Sarah Brightman not for a perfect performance, but for her tribute to Jackie.

WOW! To get the privelege of seeing Sarah Brightman (one of the greatest classical crossover performers of all time, if not THE greatest!) and one of the next greatest classical crossover performers of all time simultansously on the same stage! MAGNIFICENT!
