Saoirse Ronan joins The Order of Seven

Irish actress Saoirse Ronan has taken the lead role in The Order of Seven.

Originally meant to be a martial arts version of Snow White entitled Snow and the Seven, the film has now been completely reworked at Walt Disney Pictures and bears little resemblance to the fairy tale. Ronan will star as Olivia Spencer, a British expatriate living in Hong Kong. When an evil empress comes into power, Olivia takes refuge with a group of outlaw warriors.

Ronan, best known for her Oscar-nominated role in Atonement, currently has several films in production. She recently completed work on Byzantium and Justin and the Knights of Valor, and she will soon begin filming Stephenie Meyer's The Host.

Production on The Order of Seven is set to begin later this year with an expected 2013 release. Michael Gracey is making his directorial debut with a script by Jayson Rothwell and Michael DeBruyn.
