Chivas lost once more to Santos at the Omnilife Stadium.

The worries continue for the Rebaño Sagrado reaching four games in a row where they have not been able to win a match. In the final game of week 5 of the Apertura 2014 of La Liga MX, Chivas de Guadalajara lost 1-0 against Club Santos Laguna at the Omnilife Stadium. Aside from the bad start of the Apertura 2014, this is the third game in a row that Santos wins in Guadalajara.

The fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the "goats" beginning to jeer the home side with 30 minutes to play. A group of fans in the stands displayed a sign stating:

“The fans love this great team. We are here and committed to the team. It is time for the players to do their part.”

Action moved in both direction on the pitch of the Omnilife. There was no clear dominator in the pitch with both teams taking shots on goal with no real danger in the plays. Santos Coach Pedro Caixinha sent Colombian Carlos Darwin Quintero to the field in the second half as a substitution. In the 88th minute the move paid-off. On a corner kick, a bad clearance by Chivas left the ball at Quintero’s feet at midfield. The Colombian took the ball, beat out the defender and pulled goalkeeper Jose Rodriguez off his line before shooting the ball into the net for the final 1-0.

Chivas has suffered lately. Their last game was in Copa MX where they lost 3-1 to Ascenso MX team Coras Tepic. Prior to that the rojiblancos fell 3-0 to CF Pachuca in La Liga MX. A 1-0 loss to German side Bayern Munich in an international friendly began their woes.

Chivas ends week 5 action in the 15th position on the league table with 4 points. The "goats" are currently in relegation danger and need to earn points if they want to remain in the big leagues. The team has not scored since week 2, when Fernando Arce put the ball in the net. Arce has scored Chivas’ only two goals this season. Santos on the other hand moved up to the 6th position and has improved their game.

For week 6, Chivas will take on Veracruz FC after hosting Zacatepec in Copa MX action. Santos will host Correcaminos UAT in Copa MX before taking on Toluca FC at the TSM Corona Stadium.

Week 5 results:

Leon 2, Pumas UNAM 1

Tijuana 2, Chiapas 0

America 3, Morelia 2

Puebla 1, Tigres UANL 1
