SantaCon NYC 2013: Drunk, vomiting and public urinating Santas take NYC

SantaCon 2013 created hundreds of drunken Santas who swarmed the streets of New York City on Saturday doing a bar crawl. According to the New York Daily News on Dec. 14, these weren’t your run-of-the-mill Santa and Mrs. Claus figures as this crowd had their share of belligerence to spread along with cheer!

The official SantaCon Twitter account instructed the hordes of drunk Santas stumbling around Lower Manhattan to head to the Crown Heights/Bed-Stuy area, where there were SantaCon parties were rocking. This included the "biggest Santa party ever", which was held in a gigantic warm 40,000-sq-ft warehouse" at the corner of Nostrand and Atlantic avenues, according to NY Eater today. While many made the destinations for Santa parties, others crawled through the bars getting drunk.

From reports of vomit in the streets and Santa flashing the middle finger to passersby, the SantaCom 2013 was as much as a success as it has been in previous years. The NYPD asked bar owners not to serve folks in Santa suits trying to stave off having thousands of Santa donned folks urinating, vomiting and staggering through the streets. Bartenders didn’t seem to pay attention and served anyone affiliated with the Santa bar crawl going on across Manhattan Saturday.

These folks weren’t just New Yorkers. People came from all over the nation to dress like Santa and Mrs. Claus and get drunk while partaking in SantaCon. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram unofficially documented the day yesterday with the thousands of pictures taken by folks posted online.

One Twitter user wrote “Why do I hate SantaCon? Because this is the first thing I saw when I walked out of my apartment this year. At 11 am.” According to the Gothamist, this caption was posted with a picture of a man holding on to a tree and vomiting on the sidewalk. Thankfully Christmas only comes once a year.
