The lyrics "Here comes Santa Claus right down Santa Claus lane" isn't talking about the drunken Santas that descended upon New York this weekend for the SantaCon pub crawl. Hundreds of men and women wore the red-suited Santa outfit for the drinking and partying event that has some New Yorkers up in arms. And Yahoo News reported on Dec. 15 that the police warned the disguised to take off their fake beards before going into bars, to help defuse potential problems.
There were Santas racing down the streets, frolicking in the snow, striking poses for fans, and cavorting as a group in the middle of roadways. Two red-suited smoochers locked lips on a snow-covered sidewalk (Mr. and Mrs. Claus), while others opted for orange and green joker-like outfits to celebrate the event instead of the usual red-colored ones.
Another Mrs. Claus chose to spice up her outfit for a hoola hoop dance on a field of snow that left one Santa looking a little too lustful from the sidelines, as if he was going to race in and tackle her.
The jolly men (and women) were joined by jolly elves, too. And there was even a Mr. Claus sporting shorts while holding up a cheerleader version of the famous symbol. Go Jets!?
All in all, this time when Santa came to town, it wasn't to deliver packages and presents to good little girls and boys. Instead, it was to kick off some fun for those who felt they had slaved away at their own version of the North Pole all year. And kick off is what they did, with one ending up in a hospital for injuries while 10 received summonses for their naughty list conduct.
