Christmas wouldn't be Christmas without a visit to the jolly old man in the red suit! You can find Santa in the following Washington, D.C., and other nearby locations:

Sprinkles Cupcakes Georgetown announced today that the 3015 M Street bakery will host Santa Claus, on December 14, as part of its celebration of the holiday season. Sprinkles Cupcakes spreads sweet holiday cheer with the only Santa in Georgetown!

Santa Claus will be at the Georgetown location (3015 M St., N.W., Washington, D.C.) from noon to 2 p.m. Children and their family waiting to see Santa can enjoy the festive atmosphere, while partaking in Sprinkles’ holiday-flavored cupcakes such as chocolate and vanilla peppermint, and eggnog spice, as well as other sweet treats. A fun event for the whole family, this is the only Santa Claus available to the public this year in the Georgetown area.

“We are so excited about bringing Santa to Sprinkles this year!” said Candace Nelson, founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes. “We hope to make this a new tradition for Sprinkles -- it is a great way for us to share the Sprinkles holiday spirit with our whole community.”

Kids and their families can see Santa’s Workshop at the Ellipse through December 24, 2013. Located at 1600 Constitution Ave. N.W., Washington, DC), Santa's Workshop at the Ellipse is probably the most well-known place to take a photo with Santa.

At the Holiday on the Ellipse your family will be able to enjoy a variety of events and activities, including:

  • Stop by Santa’s workshop to watch the elves create toys and games
  • You and the kids can sit on Santa’s lap.
  • Don't forget to stop the National Christmas tree, Christmas carols and the Christmas Pathway of Peace.

Santa is coming to the Kennedy Center for Brunch! Brunch with Santa will take place on December 15 and 22, 2013. The Kennedy Center is located at 2700 F St. N.W., Washington, DC.

The Annual Brunch with Santa event will take place at the Roof Terrace Restaurant. The buffet style brunch is served from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Make reservations ahead of time. There will be a live jazz performance. For more information: 202-467-4600;

Get in to the holiday spirit at the National Zoo. Zoolights will be held through January 1, 2014 at the National Zoo (3001 Connecticut Ave., Washington, D.C.).

This popular event features more than 500,000 environmentally friendly lights that transform the zoo into a winter wonderland. Many of the buildings, including the small mammal house, reptile discovery center and great ape house, will be open to the public. Go for a spin on a Carousel Rides with Santa. The carousel at National Harbor National Harbor (165 Waterfront St., National Harbor, MD) is open for Carousel Rides with Santa on Dec. 14 and 21, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

There are a number of fun holiday activities at the National Harbor:

  • Take a carousel ride with Santa.
  • Santa will make a special appearance waterskiing down the Potomac along with his friends, the flying elves and the jet-skiing Grinch.
  • Frosty the Snowman will lead Christmas carols in the pavilion.
