Santa Monica's Catch introduces new lunch, dinner, and brunch menus from recently appointed Managing Chef Sven Mede—who now oversees all food and beverage concepts at Casa del Mar and Shutters on the Beach. Currently available in the restaurant, Mede’s new menus emphasize the natural flavor profiles of simply prepared, market-fresh seafood dishes, complemented by both regional American and Mediterranean influences. The restaurant also introduces a rotating roster of jazz and contemporary performances, held live every Sunday during brunch (brunch is offered 10:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, with live music featured 12-3 p.m. Sundays).
"Our ethos at Catch is straightforward: source the freshest seasonal seafood and locally grown produce, and prepare each dish with refined technique, simplicity, and attention to detail,” Mede says. “Great product means great food, and that’s what our guests will experience here.”
Lunch selections at Catch include Clams & Chorizo with garlic and Espelette pepper ($11), a Maine Lobster Sandwich on brioche ($24), and Organic Salmon with pineapple, jalapeno, cilantro, and capers ($12). New dinner menu highlights range from Grilled Spanish Octopus with smoked potatoes ($16) and Cedar-smoked Tasmanian Ocean Trout with Weiser Farms carrots and a pink peppercorn vinaigrette ($16), to a fresh daily raw bar featuring a Half Dozen Oysters (both East and West Coast; $18) and a collection of crudo (Skuna Bay Salmon, Maine Diver Scallop, Japanese Yellowtail, and more; $12-14). Weekend brunch is divided into small and large plates, shellfish, and dessert, with a selection of specialty cocktails including the Bloody Mary with Shishito Peppers and the “Catch Mimosa” with Solerno Blood Orange Liqueur ($11). Guests can choose from items such as the Dungeness Crab Florentine ($19) or Lemon and Ricotta Pancakes with blueberries and crème fraîche ($17). A selection of boutique local wines and a market fresh mixology program complement all new menus.
