Up-and-coming folk-rockers Dawes will be performing in Santa Fe this week, and it is a show that you won’t want to miss. Dawes was formed in 2009, and has already received high praise from Rolling Stone Magazine and was dubbed one of VH1’s You Oughta Know Artists on the Rise. The band is comprised of singer/guitarist Taylor Goldsmith, his brother Griffin on drums, keyboardist Tay Strathairn and bassist Wylie Gelber.
The band’s 2009 debut record, “North Hills” was recorded in LA’s legendary Laurel Canyon in a live setting to analog tape which Rolling Stone magazine called “authentically vintage”. Dawes’ new album, “Nothing Is Wrong” came out in June, and features the current single (and my personal favorite song of theirs) “Time Spent in Los Angeles” which is in the Top 40 of Adult Album Alternative radio.
