In Santa Fe, Texas, Brian Anthony Cheek, 39, and his wife Veronica Lynn Springer, 38 were arrested on Friday night for intent to distribute crystal meth and possession of stolen property according to Khou.com.
While executing the warrant, the Santa Fe Police Department made the heart wrenching discovery of 20 dead cats ranging in ages from kittens to mature cats who had apparently been tortured and killed.
Evidence of cats being strangled, beaten by blunt force trauma, and disemboweled as well as cats being burned were the grisly discoveries of the evening.
Galveston County Sheriff's Animal Cruelty investigators have ordered a necropsy on some of the cats to determine the actual cause of death.
For now, Cheek remains in jail in lieu of a $300,000 bond on felony charges for violating parole and manufacturing controlled substances and stolen property. Springer remains in jail in lieu of a $20,000 bond.
The couple now face felony animal cruelty charges in the alleged torture of the cats.
Rest in peace cats.
