Sanford Neighborhoods: January 27-29

The weather has been spectacular and while Friday rain showers are predicted, the rest of the weekend is looking gorgeous.  Head into downtown Sanford for the weekly farmer’s market, buy tickets to Seminole’s Got Talent to cheer on friends and neighbors, make Sanford’s Art Walk a part of your monthly routine, and listen to some great live music from grassroots bands while sipping a $5.00 martini or cool, imported beer.

Special Weekend Events

Sanford Art Walk: It is the forth Friday of the month and you know what that means:  Starting at 6:00 PM on January 27th stroll down the brick lanes of historic Sanford to appreciate talented, local artists in a gallery setting.  There is live music and as always, admission is free.  The theme this month is “Black and White Forever.”  Head toward First Street and find street parking or use the free lot across from the library.  Don’t forget to peruse the shelves of Maya Books and Music or grab a German beer at the extremely popular Willow Tree Café.

Seminole’s Got Talent: Imagine America’s Got Talent right in your backyard.  This Saturday, January 28th at 7:30 PM at the Wayne Densch Performing Arts Center enjoy watching Central Florida’s performing arts talent to see who will win the grand prize.  You can purchase tickets online for $20.00 -$25.00 or buy them at the door at 201-203 South Magnolia Avenue in Sanford.

Local Haunts

World of Beer: Saturday at 3:00 PM WOB is showcasing Dogfish Head beers including the 60-minute IPA, Black and Blue, Palo Santo, and so many more.  Both Friday and Saturday night enjoy live music from 9:00 PM to midnight with the James Boyd Band on Friday and the Road Sodas on Saturday.  Located on the border of Sanford and Lake Mary you can drop by at 1125 TownPark Ave and find parking in Colonial TownPark.

Gio’s Café I and The Cellar has music Friday and Saturday starting at 9:00 PM. Stop by at 5040 West State Rd. #46 Suite #1102 in Sanford.

Ellen’s Wine Room has piano music Friday and Saturday at 8:00 PM. You know the place: 440 S. Sanford Ave. in Sanford.

Little Fish Huge Pond: This Friday stop in as part of Sanford’s Art Walk.  On Saturday the 28th they are hosting a closed event.  Tickets can be purchased for $10.00.  While enjoying a drink, ticket holders will be able to see a variety of performers and artists. Address: 309 E First Street in Sanford.

Farmer's Markets

Sanford’s Farmer’s Market: Buy dog treats, honey, earrings, and so much more from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM in downtown Sanford.  Afterwards have some lunch or a German beer.  There is a free public lot one block away.  The market is pet friendly and they take credit cards.  Address: E 1st St. & Magnolia Ave. in Sanford.

Lake Mary’s Farmer’s Market: For those that live on the other side of Sanford, head to Lake Mary’s City Hall from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM.  The market is every Saturday, weather permitting.  Find delicacies such as kettle corn, loose-leaf tea, and cheesecake cupcakes.  City Hall is located on the corner of Lake Mary Blvd. & 4th St.

Valentine's Day is almost here...

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching be on the lookout for a special Sanford Neighborhoods edition of romantic things to do around town.  This list will include suggestions such as a timeless performance of The Phantom of the Opera, bridal shows around Central Florida, and a few great, local places to dine with the people you love most.
