Many things are tucked away in suburban Atlanta strip centers. Somewhere in the madness of the neon lights are good local joints including Sandy Springs, Georgia’s The Brickery Grill and Bar. Operating at the busy corner of Hilderbrand Drive and Roswell Road, The Brickery has been satisfying crowds here since 1992.

The Brickery lives up to the motto, “Fresh is best.” It shows in every dish quickly served up including the Lump Crab Cakes. These filling cakes arrive with dill sauce. If crab isn’t your thing, try the protein-packed Salmon Cakes that come with rice almondine. Speaking of almondine, Trout Almondine is a 10 ounce pan-sautéed treat.

My favorite dish is the Brisket Sandwich which is a mountain of savory, thick meat that comes between your choices of buns. I prefer the whole wheat, but something tells me that sesame would have been a better decision on my last visit. But, I made a great decision to split the onion rings and fries as a side on the order.

While I did miss their legendary kugel with my sandwich, my wife ordered it with the Marinated Chicken Grill. This dish features a 10 ounce marinated boneless breast that is chargrilled and topped with Monterrey and cheddar cheese.

For lunch, The Brickery features an array of burgers and sandwiches including the House Caesar Burger and the Blackened Fish Sandwich.

If you have any room for dessert, the Turtle Pie is the star of the show here. This is a semi-sweet chocolate pie with caramel and pecans. Vanilla ice cream is served on the side.

Finding a restaurant with a great vibe can be daunting at times in Atlanta. The Brickery is one of those places where you can feel like you’re among friends.
