In the wake of the massacre at a mall in Nairobi, Kenya, American Family Association radio host Sandy Rios once again attempted to resurrect the birther conspiracy theories by suggesting that President Obama was born in the country and is related to a leading Kenyan political figure.
"The implications of this are pretty frightening and of course it’s interesting that this is the country from which our President hails. This is his lineage. We know his cousin Raila Odinga is a Muslim communist. It’s just amazing. I think he's the Prime Minister right now."
Back in reality, the only thing frightening is how devoted people like Sandy Rios are to trying to remove Obama from office based on a moronic conspiracy theory that was known to be false from the start.
There are four (major) problems with her claims about Ralia Odinga:
- Odinga is not a Muslim.
- Odinga is not a communist.
- Odinga is the former, not current, prime minister.
- Odinga is not a cousin to Barack Obama.
Five minutes on Google would have revealed as much to Rios. If only the temptation to sling mud in the wake of a tragedy were not too great for her to resist.
