Sandy Rios: Mandela was a criminal, deserved "solitary confinement"

On Friday, American Family Radio's Sandy Rios joined Joseph Farah in lashing out at Nelson Mandela, asserting during the broadcast that he deserved to be imprisoned for twenty-seven years because he was a violent criminal.

"Nelson Mandela was placed in prison because of the violence that he did in the country of South Africa," she argued. "Now you can argue, I guess, you can say it was worth it because we overthrew apartheid. I don't know, is that really the way a victory should be won? Is this really a righteous cause? Is he really a saint for doing this? They talk about him being in solitary confinement, well, criminals are placed in solitary confinement, if you murder other people you lose your rights."

What Rios was apparently hoping her listeners had all forgotten was that Nelson Mandela had been a staunch advocate of reformation through peaceful means until at least sixty-nine peaceful protestors were brutally murdered.

Rios later wondered out loud if race relations in South Africa have improved since the end of apartheid.

To answer Rios's question: Yes, race relations have improved. For starters, race relations are now legal in South Africa.

Ever undeterred by the confines of reality, Rios continued:

"I don't think the picture of South Africa as it stands now is what the narrative is, certainly to be a white person in South Africa is not a very fun thing right now. I think that they have now obtained suppressing the white population with the black population holding the superior vantage point."

She thought wrong.

Rios has demonstrated once again that, like many religious authoritarians, she cannot fathom the idea of a world where there isn't an oppressor, ergo if white Christians are not the oppressors at any given time, that means they absolutely must be being oppressed.
