A woman's body has been discovered too close for comfort to the Sandringham Estate, it was reported today, January 3. The body was found on New Year's Day on the estate where Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip spend the first month of the year. According to “The Telegraph,” a murder investigation has been launched.
The remains, found in woodland near Kings Avenue in the village of Anmer are not new; police are looking into cold cases across the country to see if they can identify the woman. The victim's body was discovered by a man out walking his dog, less than one mile from Sandringham House. (Story continues below.)
Parts of the estate remain cordoned off today as police comb the area; the body has been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn for an autopsy, according to “Lynn News.”
For the first 48 hours, the news was kept under wraps as police started their work. The “complicated” investigation of the Sandringham murder is now public and, last night, the Queen and Prince Philip were informed of the grisly discovery on the Sandringham Estate.
