Sandra Bullock is a villain in 'Minions'

Yesterday, Universal Pictures/Illumination Entertainment announced that Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock is voicing the lead villain in "Minions". The computer-animated 3D film is a spinoff from the "Despicable Me" franchise and set to open next December.

The story is a prequel to 2010′s "Despicable Me" and revolves around the adorable, likable yellow henchmen and their quest for a new super-villain to serve. The henchmen end up at a villain convention, where they'll try to work for Scarlet Overkill, a stylish super-villain who's trying to become the world’s first female super-villain. Sandra Bullock has been cast to voice the Scarlet Overkill character.

Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy are producing the film, while Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda will be co-directing the animated feature. Brian Lynch wrote the screenplay.

But, before "Minions", the adorable yellow minions will be seen in this summer's upcoming "Despicable Me 2". From the popularity of the yellow henchmen, the two animated films have a strong fan base and looks to be a strong franchise for Universal Pictures.
