Sandra Bullock, who just received an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress for The Blind Side, has a lot to do before the Oscars are handed out March 7 in Los Angeles.
"I do believe some liposuction is in order, a very strict diet regime, and I will acquire a very light English accent," Bullock, 45, joked Feb. 2 on the Today Show.
Sandra, who is known mainly for her roles in romantic comedies such as The Proposal (2009), Two Weeks Notice (2002) and Miss Congeniality (2000), stunned the film industry with her stirring dramatic work in The Blind Side, which also received a nod for Best Film.
'MIND-BLOWINGLY AMAZING YEAR'
Bullock is clearly delighted with her unexpected nomination.
"I've never done this before!" she says.
She adds: "I think it's just so big that maybe when I am about 74, I'll have that moment in a grocery store with my walker and go, 'Oh, my God! This year [2009] has been mind-blowingly amazing!'"
Amazing is right. On Jan. 17, Bullock won a Golden Globe Award for best dramatic actress for The Blind Side. Sandra was also a standout on the red carpet, looking superfit and gorgeous in a stunning violet Bottega Venetta gown.
Bullock maintains her svelte figure by working out regularly and watching her diet.
“I do a lot of Pilates, kick-boxing and weight training in Los Angeles, and when I’m in Austin I run or ride my bike,” says Sandra, who splits her time between L.A. and her Texas ranch.
Bullock also varies her routine by incorporating plyometrics, Pilates, boxing and weight-lifting into her workouts.

PAID TO BE SKINNY
Sandra showed off the results of her hard work in a much talked-about nude scene in The Proposal (co-starring hottie Ryan Reynolds).
Says Bullock: “People ask, ‘How do actresses do it [stay so fit]?’ Um, they pay us to do this in order to look good on film.”
The modest, down-to-earth Sandra says of the Oscars, "No one cares about the end result or the statue."
Bullock says she's just thrilled for the chance to meet her talented fellow nominees, such as Mery Streep and Helen Mirren.
"You laugh at the absurdity of it all and how they pit women up against each other," she says. "We go, 'Why are they making us out to be fighting when we're just happy to share this moment? I feel really lucky to be working at this time."
The 2010 Academy Awards takes place March 7.
