At first "Gravity" appeared to be a high risk venture with a cost of over $100 million to produce. This high action film featured Bullock floating in space for almost the entire running time. "Gravity" turned out to be one of the highest-grossing movies of 2013 bringing in $716 million at the international office.
"Gravity" has been a phenomenal commercial and critical success which earned 10 Oscar nominations and won seven of the prized gold statues. Although Bullock din't win for Best Actress this year she earned a fortune. Thanks primarily to Gravity Bullock has come out at the top of the Forbes 2014 list of the highest-earnings actress with an estimated $51 million in earnings between June 2013 and June 2014.

At 50 years old Bullock has climbed to the top spot on Forbes' list of the highest earning actresses for 2014. Most of her income over the last year came from her enormous salary for "Gravity."
Bullock's huge earnings seems to have defied gravity this year reports the New York Daily News. Forbes has written that Bullock's success has been a real boon to ambitious film making which is based on original stories. Bullock has also given new meaning to the potential for success in Hollywood at middle age.
