Sanda Bullock sizzles at 50, thanks to a low carb, sugar-free organic diet and rigorous yoga and Pilates workouts, so it's no surprise that she was honored with the Decade of Hotness award at Spike TV's 2014 Guys Choice Awards in Los Angeles.
Bullock, 49, was praised by her hunky former co-stars, Keanu Reeves, Hugh Grant, and Matthew McConaughey for basically being a babe, E! reported.
Sanda responded with her characteristic self-deprecating humor. "I feel like I'm at my funeral," she laughed. "Decade of Hotness? My question was what decade? I have several under my belt. It should really be Decade of Hot Mess.
This is an amazing slingshot for a 49-year-old. I'd like to thank every hairstylist and makeup artist for creating the illusion because I didn't look like this a couple hours ago. I'm just one of the luckiest girls I know."
Like fellow anti-aging superstar Jane Fonda (who looks unbelievable at 76), Bullock has barely aged during the past 20 years, thanks to a healthy organic diet and regular exercise. The 5-foot-7 brunette beauty does a combination of strength-training and cardio exercise to maintain her stunning, age-defying good looks.
"I do a lot of Pilates, kick-boxing and weight training in L.A., and when I'm in Austin [Texas], I run or ride a bike," Sandra told Vogue. "People ask, 'How do actresses do it [stay in shape]?' Um, they pay us to do this in order to look good on film."
In recent years, Bullock has incorporated plyometrics and an hour-long routine that combines yoga and fat-burning Pilates and dance cardio workouts. The new regimen is clearly working, judging by her buff arms and toned torso.
Bullock's trainer, Simone De La Rue, said Sandra's super-fit physique is no accident: She works hard and is extremely disciplined. "Sandra puts in an hour a day [at the gym], six times a week," said De La Rue, author of Body by Simone. "She is extremely motivated and driven.”
While women are considered over the hill after 40 in age-phobic Hollywood, Bullock's career is on fire even as she approaches 50. In 2010, Bullock won an Academy Award for the drama "The Blind Side," and her most recent blockbuster, "Gravity," has grossed $716 million at the box office. To date, Bullock's films have earned over $2.1 billion worldwide.
