Sandpoint, Idaho, Air Force captain attacked and killed in Afghanistan

Early this afternoon, the Pentagon announced the death of an airman who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Capt. David I. Lyon, 28, of Sandpoint, Idaho, died yesterday, Dec. 27, 2013, from wounds suffered when his vehicle was attacked with an improvised explosive device in Kabul, Afghanistan.

There has been no information regarding other troops who might have been injured in this incident.

Capt. Lyon was assigned to the 21st Logistics Readiness Squadron, Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colo.

There has been no comment from the family regarding memorial services for their Airman.
