To commemorate the 15th birthday of Easton’s Crayola Factory, forty tons of sand was dumped at Two Rivers Landing and six world class sand artist will sculpt, carve and paint it into some magnificent.
The color factor is being introduced into this sculpture as a celebration of Crayola crayons, the entire ordeal will be filmed by the Travel Channel and aired sometime later this summer on the network’s newest show; aptly dubbed “Sand Masters”.
The sand was dumped on Wednesday, the sculptors will spend three days working on the project and the big surprise (sculpture) will be revealed to everyone on Friday June 3 at 1PM.
According to lead sculptor Rusty Croft, who the show is designed around; the biggest challenge surprisingly is not rain, but wind; which could present a problem with this week’s weather.
No matter what the conditions, this is great way to highlight Easton, the local area, and one of trademark museums to all around the country and the world. Not to mention the raw materials will eventually serve a greater good.
The sculpture will be displayed at the Crayola Factory as long as possible and afterwards it will be donated to nearby playgrounds to use in their sand boxes for future budding young sculptors.
