Saturday, August 23rd, bring your steed out for a ride into the foothills for a worthy cause; the Sand Fire Community Fund Raiser & Motorcycle Run. You may recall the recent and devastating fire up in the foothills known as the Sand Fire, owing to its proximity to Sand Ridge along the boundaries of Amador and El Dorado Counties. The fire erupted July 25 and scorched 4240 acres and 20 residences, according to KPCC. Many families lost everything.
The impacted El Dorado and Amador communities came together in a show of support unlike anything this writer/rider has ever seen, but more remains to be done. That’s where you come in. Ride on over to Folsom Harley-Davidson, 115 Woodmere Road, Folsom, and register between 8:30-10:00 am. You’ll ride from there up through Lotus and Coloma and to the Georgetown Hotel for refreshments. Then around 1:30 pm, you’ll depart for Pleasant Valley to Bones Roadhouse, 4430 Pleasant Valley Road; the headquarters for the overall fundraising event. Registration is $20 a person or $30 per couple, and you know it’ll be money well spent.
Once you’re at Bones, the day is not over. Festivities continue on until 9:00pm with food, music and raffle drawings. You can even have that non-riding brother in law load up his pickup with some furniture you’re no longer using and bring it out there for a donation. They are accepting donations in the form of clothing, furniture, food and money. For further information, contact Alicia Allen at (530) 621-4073(530) 621-4073 or you may send monetary donations directly to: Sand Fire Community Fund Raiser & Motorcycle Run, PO Box 1198, El Dorado, CA 95623.
So come on out and make a show of support for some people who lost everything. In the exchange, you’ll have a nice ride, meet some nice people, eat great food and listen to great music. Yours truly will be along for the ride, so I hope to meet some new friends and re-acquaint with some old ones.
Until next time, stay tuned and upright,
