San Jose mega lottery winner yet to claim prize

The second winner of tonight's $648 million Mega Lottery ticket numbers has yet to come forth. The unclaimed ticket was purchased in San Jose, California at a gift shop. The other winner, who is from Georgia, already has been announced, according to KTVU News, Dec. 20, 2013. Each winner stands to win $324 million or a lump sum of $173.8 million after taxes.

According to Lottery spokesperson Alex Traverso, winners of large lotteries often confer with attorneys and financial advisors before claiming their prizes. The winner has up to one year to claim the winnings.

The jackpot had been thought to be $636 million but later was revised to $648 million. It is the second largest lottery jackpot in United States history.
