San Jose man arrested on homicide charges

San Jose police report that a 20-year-old man has been arrested for the murder last week of 27-year-old Errick Wright, who was found dead at Guadalupe Oak Grove Park last Wednesday.

Officers responded to the park just before 4 p.m. on March 6 where they located Wright suffering from at least one stab wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation led detectives to Vincent Gallegos, who is believed to have stabbed Wright in the park. Officers say they spotted blood on Gallegos’ clothing shortly after the incident and believe their suspect lied several times regarding details surrounding the murder.

Gallegos has been booked into Santa Clara County Jail on homicide charges and remains behind bars, but the case remains under investigation.

Anyone with information on this homicide is asked to contact Detective Sgt. Steve Bustillos or Det. Jaime Jimenez of the San Jose Police Department’s Homicide Unit at (408) 277-5283. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Silicon Valley Crimestoppers at (408) 947-7867.
