San Jose police have made an arrest, but continue to investigate the 46th and final homicide of 2012 in which one man allegedly shot another for burglarizing cars in the area.
According to authorities, officers responded to the 200 block of Lewis Road at about 9:40 a.m. on December 31 on a report of a man with a gun in the area. Upon arrival, they located the victim, 36-year-old Christopher Soriano, suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigation led detectives to 26-year-old Luis Ricardo Hernandez, who police believe shot the victim following an altercation. Officials claim Hernandez was trying to detain Soriano for reportedly burglarizing cars in the neighborhood when the shooting occurred.
