San Jose knitting: February 27-March 4

February 27, 2012

March, as some of the craftier knitters may know, is National Craft Month. This week brings the beginning of a month devoted to the creativity and a reason, (as if one was necessary), to do some serious crafting,

The second date of note this week is the elusive Leap Year Day of February 29th. There must be some knitted project specifically for the celebration of such an unusual day.

Perhaps in honor of both Leap Year and National Craft Month the knitters of San Jose could come up with a quick stash busting pattern to celebrate both the rare day and the upcoming creative odyssey certain to take place in the following month.

Well South Bay knitters, before you go digging through the yarn stash wondering what sort of knitted goodie would best exemplify the extra day in February and Craft month in March, check out some of the knitting events scheduled in the week ahead. You may find inspiration at one of the classes or groups this week.

Some of you Silicon Valley knitters were fortunate enough to enjoy Stitches West 2012 this past weekend. Although the knitting expo ended on Sunday, there is still Stitches West Etc., a 2 day knitting workshop immediately following the conclusion of Stitches West 2012. Starting at 9am on Monday, February 27th and continuing through the following day, Tuesday, February 28th, Stitches West Etc. promises a "peak knitting experience" that is not to be missed.

Another notable knitting event in the week ahead is on Thursday, March 1st. Purlescence Yarns in Sunnyvale is hosting a Cascade Yarn Tasting from 6pm-8pm. Participants will be treated to a sneak preview and sampling of the yarn Cascade is offering this year. This is an event that is sure to awaken the yarn connoisseur within every knitter.

Here are a few San Jose knitting events to plan for this week. Visit the San Jose Knitting Examiner's Calendar to see a complete listing of upcoming knitting events and classes.
