The two-day World Veg Festival event takes place Saturday & Sunday, September 28 & 29, 2013 in the San Francisco County Fair Building, located at the Lincoln and 9th Avenue entrance to Golden Gate Park, San Francisco.
This Award Winning Festival celebrates its 14th year with an action packed weekend of very informative lectures by the movers and shakers of the vegetarian movement plus creative vegan cooking demos; international cuisine to sample or buy; vegan friendly merchandise; a Childrens Corner; an Eco-Fashion Show, and a variety of live entertainment. The weekend event is organized by the San Francisco Vegetarian Society (SFVS.org), starting with the first one held in 1988. It has run continuously uninterrupted for the last fourteen years. It is San Francisco's way to celebrate World Vegetarian Day, which is observed worldwide on October 1.
The World Veg Festival is usually a week before or after World Vegetarian Day. At the 2012 event, the San Francisco Vegetarian Society hosted the International Vegetarian Union's 40th International Veg Conference. It was so successful, the International Vegetarian Union decided that all of their future conferences will conform to the festive spirit we try to capture in San Francisco. You can view last year's site here: World Veg Festival 2012.
