The Wine Kitchen is a casual neighborhood wine bar and small plates restaurant, which is the vision of chef owners Greg Faucette and Jason Limburg - culinary veterans from some of San Francisco’s most celebrated kitchens like Contigo, Spruce, Commonwealth and Bar Tartine. Wine Kitchen’s seasonal menu of New California cuisine is accompanied by a unique selection of wine and beer from all over the world. Greg and Jason are celebrating this anniversary with Wine Kitchen’s own Merlot-Cabernet blend on tap, custom-made by Bryan Harrington of Harrington Wines in San Francisco.
Wine Kitchen was built around the idea that wine and food taste better when enjoyed together. “The inspiration for Wine Kitchen came from going to so many wine bars that had great wines, but lacked food options. The other extreme was restaurants that didn't have the casualness of a wine bar or the unique wine selection,” shared Limburg. As a result, “we have created a casual environment at Wine Kitchen where people can come to have a glass of really unique, well crafted wine, or enjoy a full dinner experience,” said Faucette.
Among numerous highlights on the menu are wines by Chris Brockway from Broc Cellars in Berkeley e.g. his Mourvedre, Carignane and Zinfandel. “[Brockway’s] approach produces a unique wine that carries a freshness [because] his wines are never over-manipulated,” explained Faucette. The owners’ passion and knowledge for quality ingredients, coupled with the great value of Wine Kitchen’s curated pairings have earned them great favor with the locals.
