The San Francisco Bay Area is rich indeed, rich not only I history and heritage and natural beauty, but rich in cultural and fun events that add so much to all of our lives. There’s lots for you to do this coming week, beginning up in the Wine Country with one of Radio Station KJZY’s free “After Work Concerts.” This Thursday, September 12th from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. RUSSIAN RIVER VINEYARDS plays host to The Gypsy Jazz Trio, providing tasty sounds to wine country residents.
Now talk about tasty. This Saturday, September 14th, Ghirardelli Square plays host to the 18th annual Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival.
Ghirardelli Chocolate Festival partners with Project Open Hand, a local organization that provides meals to the homebound critically ill, senior citizens, and those living with HIV/AIDS to raise funds for the organization. Last year, festival profits raised more than $65,000 for this cause.
Sunday, the 15h, The Green Music Center’s Weill Hall in Rohnert Park, provided the perfect setting for celebrated soprano, Renée Fleming’s superb artistry. In July of this year President Obama awarded Ms. Fleming was awarded this nation’s highest honor in the arts, the National Medal of Arts.
There is still time to catch the Richard Diebenkorn exhibit at the MH de Young Museum in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. This collection of paintings that represent the artists work during is Berkeley years will be at the de Young only through the 9th of this month.
Opera fans and Steven King fans won’t want to miss the opening of San Francisco’s production of the new opera Dolores Claiborne, which opens Wednesday September 18th.
Those of you who love the impressionist still have time to catch the outstanding exhibition at The Palace of the Legion of Honor, Impressionists on the Water which runs through October 13. This exhibition was designed to coincide and enhance the America’s Cub races, which will be happening on the bay through the 21.
