This coming weekend, San Francisco Renaissance Voices (SFRV) will present its annual Family Christmas Concert, one of the major free performances in its 2013–14 season. As in the past, this will be a traditional Service of Lessons and Carols following the plan that originated in 1918 at King’s College in Cambridge. There will be lots of opportunities for audience carol sing-alongs, as well as performances of other traditional holiday music by SFRV soloists and guest artists. There will also be the premiere of a commissioned work for the evening by Bay Area composer Winton Yuichiro White. This year the concert will be directed by SFRV Lead Tenor Corey Head. As in the past, the concert will be followed by a festive holiday reception.
This event will take place at the Seventh Avenue Presbyterian Church (1329 Seventh Avenue), just south of Golden Gate Park and near the Muni N Line stop at the corner of Irving Street and Seventh Avenue. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 21. Since admission is free, no tickets are required. All members of the music-loving community are simply invited to come and enjoy the evening.
