San Francisco radio host Tony Bruno calls Ramirez illegal alien, accuses Bochy

The contretemps between the San Francisco Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies after Giants pitcher Ramon Ramirez hit Shane Victorino during the sixth inning of last night's Game 2 sloshed acidly into the virtual world, as these things inevitably will.

Bay Area Sports and report that San Francisco radio host Tony Bruno -- formerly co-host on KNBR 680 with Gary Radnich until he was dismissed earlier this week -- unleashed this gem of a tweet last night on @TonyBrunoShow:

"gutless #!@%*# Giants. Bochy is a coward for having his illegal alien pitcher hit a guy since mighty Frisco boys..."

Mr. Bruno reportedly deleted the tweet shortly afterwards, but, alas, like a straight-out-of-the-1980s Gremlins flick, not before it had reproduced in re-tweets all across the Twitterverse.

Following modern e-etiquette, Mr. Bruno apologized. Via Facebook. Partly:

"I did remove my post and apologize for my comments regarding illegal aliens. I was angry and on the air and I stand behind my comments that Bruce Bochy is a coward, as are all managers who order pitchers to throw at guys just because their pitchers can't get a guy out. All of you people resorting to name calling are more classless and vile."

Apparently, Mr. Bruno exempts himself from the category of "all you people" who resort to "name calling." Foundless accusations of cowardice on Mr. Bochy's part do not count as name calling, or, indeed, factoring an individual's immigration status into their baseball performance.

Mr. Bruno had best hope Eli Whiteside doesn't get an eyeful of that tweet.
