San Francisco's Union Square has always been a popular destination during the holidays. This season, there will even be more reason to head for SF's urban park, bordered by Stockton, Geary, Powell and Post streets.
The Safeway Holiday Ice Rink is making its debut and opened on Nov. 12. It will remain open through Jan. 4, 2009.
Hours are 10 AM-10 PM, Sunday-Thursday and 10 AM-11:30 PM, Friday-Saturday. Sessions begin on the even hour and last 90 minutes. Admission is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages eight and under. BYOS (Bring Your Own Skates) or rent a pair for $4.
If you do happen to be in New York City over the holidays, there are plenty of places to skate.
