Jean-Michel Cousteau has opened the 10th San Francisco International Ocean Film Festival at the Aquarium of the Bay with amazing stills, videos, and stories of growing up with his famous father, and the life they lived aboard the Calypso.
Beyond that, he has explained the startling challenges of ocean preservation which we face today, while sprinkling a good dose of optimism throughout his presentation. Cousteau emphasizes the hope he holds out for in the young people of today, who will become the custodians of the oceans, and therefore, the entire earth's future.

With 11 programs of 50 films from 14 countries, screenings take place all day each day. The 10th film festival features diversity across its subject: films and talks on conservationism, oil exploration, and overfishing; and even a screening of "Accidental Icon: The Real Gidget Story," followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Brian Gillogly.
