San Francisco exhibition furnishes unique theme—and artwork to match

San Francisco is known for having a vibrant art scene, and that’s never been truer than the present. Especially with the intensely imaginative visual art exhibition T_XT_RT, which explores the connection between art and text, now being hosted at the Jenkins Johnson Gallery at 464 Sutter Street.

The exhibition, which opened on January 13 and runs through February 22, has already wowed visitors to the gallery—particularly the eye-catching Affirmative by heralded Seattle neon artist Jeremy Bert. The work makes an impact on the eye and mind alike, with its bold look and upbeat message of ‘Yes, Yes, Yes’ in large yellow neon letters stacked to seven feet tall and nine feet wide. Bert has grabbed headlines in the Northwest with such works as Ransom Note, which proclaims—in neon letters of various fonts and colors—‘Leave nineteen Million dollars in unmarked Bills.’

Other artists within the T_XT_RT exhibit include Tim Etchells, Ariel Goldberg, and Cody Hoyt, and mediums run the gamut from typewriter on paper to embroidery to photography. The quality, diversity and creativity behind the show add up to an experience that serious art lovers won’t want to miss. But its unique theme will appeal to anyone intrigued by the fascinating connection between artwork and written text.

The show is curated by Courtney Johnson, and the gallery is open 10am to 6pm Tuesday through Friday, and 10am to 5pm on Saturday.
