San Francisco 49ers, Anthony Davis agree to new 5-year deal (Photos)

The San Francisco 49ers agreed to a five-year contract extension with right tackle Anthony Davis worth $37.3 million. NBC Sports originally reported the deal on April 5 and the new contract leaves the 49ers with around $4 million in cap space remaining.

USA Today added that the Anthony Davis contract has $17 million guaranteed.

This is a big move for the 49ers, who have also made big news this offseason by trading former starting quarterback Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs and then trading for a big time receiver in Anquan Boldin, taking him from the team they beat in the Super Bowl, the Baltimore Ravens.

The moves make the San Francisco 49ers a good bet to contend for another Super Bowl appearance in 2013.

Anthony Davis has started every game for the 49ers since the team drafted him with the 11th overall selection in the 2010 NFL Draft. In 2012, the San Francisco finished fourth in the NFL in rushing behind the big offensive line, one of the league's best overall units.

With Davis signed to the big extension, work will now go towards locking up other young players including new starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick, receiver Michael Crabtree and linebacker Aldon Smith.
