Aldon Smith of the San Fransisco 49ers is being confronted with a challenge of his life after an arrest on a DUI charge. Marc Sessler reported for NFL on Sept. 20, 2013, "Niners' Aldon Smith arrested on suspicion of DUI." According to San Jose police, San Francisco 49ers pass rusher Aldon Smith was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
San Jose police spokeswoman Sgt. Heather Randol told NFL Media that Smith was arrested after a single vehicle crash at approximately 7 a.m. PT in the city's Silver Creek district. Nobody else was in the vehicle with Smith when police officers arrived after his vehicle
collided with a tree. Randol said, "The initial investigation revealed that he was driving under the influence of alcohol."
ESPN has reported, "Aldon Smith suspected of DUI." Smith was released from jail on Friday after his pickup truck apparently struck a tree and he was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana possession. Smith still made it to practice with his teammates on Friday afternoon.
Smith is really lucky nobody was hurt in this accident and as a professional sports player he therefore remains in a position to turn this all around and set a positive example for sports fans by cleaning up his act now. Smith should consider checking out some green tea, ginseng and meditation to replace the booze and marijuana. He is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 4.
