San Diego woman charged with financing Somali Terror Group

Nima Ali Yusuf, 24, aka Nimco Ali Yusuf, aka Amina Ahmed, aka Anina Ali, has been charged  with supporting a Somali terrorists group.  She has been charged with conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, conspiracy to provide material support to al-Shabaab, and making false statements to a government agency in a matter involving international terrorism, according to Laura E. Duffy, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of California.

An investigation by the Customs and Border Protection and FBI resulted in the arrest of Yusuf on November 12, 2010.  Usuf will be held without bail pending a detention hearing.

Al-Shabaab is a Somali group that has been deemed a foreign terrorist group by the State Department in 2008.  

Yusuf is the 7th person charged with supporting al-Shabaab and the 4th arrested in San Diego.  The others were charged in Missouri.

Earlier this month, the U.S. banned all cargo from Somalia because of a plot by terrorists in Yemen who his two bombs inside printers shipped to Chicago.

According to the AP, a senior administration official, who is not authorized to speak publicly, said there was not intelligence linking Somalia to a similar plot, but al-Habaab has said it intends to attack the U.S.

Germany's interior minister Thomas de Maiziere announced a week ago that security is being stepped up at airports and train stations across Germany. De Maiziere told media in Berlin that there was information that a terrorist attack was being planned for the end of November in Germany.
