Amaya La Jolla

On Friday, February 14, Chef Camron Woods’ dinner menu will feature romantic courses such as Maine Lobster “Pot Pie” with truffle potato purée and brandied lobster gravy and Petite Filet of Angus Beef with braised short rib, polenta, celery root and gremolata. Chef Donald Lockhart claims his four-course dinner is his version of love on a plate. Dishes will include Yukon Gold Potato and chive soup with toasted hazelnuts and a poached hen egg and ginger citrus halibut with rock shrimp gnocchi and tarragon Dijon béarnaise. The meal is completed with three special desserts: coconut limoncello ice cream cake, passion fruit and charred pineapple fool and a tangerine Mexican chocolate terrine. Executive Chef Stephanie O’Mary-Berwald’ Valentine’s Day menu will emphasize quality seafood cuisine. Starters will include sea scallop crudo with Thai chile, gingered citrus and shiso oil mesh and entrees like grilled swordfish with cauliflower, chickpeas and fennel-saffron compote. Chef Paul Rinaudo’s Valentine’s Day menu is a four-course romance-themed menu with Warm and Sexy Oysters with pancetta, arugula, gruyere and truffle butter, exotic mushroom ravioli in cognac sauce with fried sage and roasted swordfish prime rib for two. Little Italy is heating up for Valentine’s Day with “Cupid’s Perfect Pairings,” an intimately-sized wine dinner aimed at couples and friends seeking out a novel experience around Valentine’s Day. Taking place Wednesday, February 12 between 7 and 10 p.m., this five-course dinner will be limited to 20 attendees and priced at $75 per person. At the private event, Davanti Enoteca will present the restaurant’s five top-selling wines of 2013, each paired with Chef de Cuisine Christopher Vera-Tudela’s rustic and Italian-inspired creations. Menu items will include Panama Cobia Crudo with blood orange, Poached lobster with sunkissed tomato aoli, arugula and toasted brioche and Julian apple bread pudding with apple butter, brandy sauce and candied walnuts. Addison at The Grand Del Mar

For over-the-top luxury, visit the Addison in Del Mar on Valentine’s Day. Chef William Bradley has created a sumptuous seven-course Le Menu St. Valentine. His extravagant meal starts with an amuse-bouche, followed by Sake-Cured Kampachi or Kumamoto Oysters with caviar, champagne and sorrel granité. Next guests choose from Sea Bream or Shellfish Chawanmushi. The third course is Chef Bradley’s famous Coddled Farm Egg with ham, black truffles and lettuce. Then there’s Veal Deux Façon or Honey-Roasted Canard with apricots, onions and fennel; followed by Fourme D’Ambert with tamarind-raisin jam and peanuts. Chef Matthew Sramek presents a four-course tasting menu to wow lovers. Guests will start with an Amuse Bouche of Winter Squash and Consommé. The European-styled, luxurious Westgate Hotel in downtown will offer a Valentine’s Dinner on Friday, February 14th as well as a Valentine’s Brunch on Sunday, February 16th. This cult cookie company that has been selling their unique and flavorful cookies since 2009, primarily at local farmer’s markets, will finally open its first location this Friday, February 14th, just in time for Valentine’s Day!
