Earlier this summer, Stilettos on the Glass Ceiling (SOTGC) introduced a new era of networking for women by launching its first physical formation of the society in San Diego. What began as a website of creative collaboration among both entrepreneurs and women in the corporate realm has now taken shape in the form of monthly interactive workshops, networking happy hours, and online interaction between members as a support system and career resource.

Founder Marney Reid focuses the SOTGC message on positivity. She says, "I wanted to create a global forum of support. A blog where we do NOT talk about the negatives and we do NOT blame others for our inability to get to the top. An open forum of support and collaboration where we share stories of remarkable women who have found success and career fulfillment through becoming and embracing their authentic self, and who have the courage to share their stories with the world."

The first hosted workshop on July 31st featured financial planner Mary Beth Storjohann who spoke about money management techniques and how to apply financial tips for day-to-day life. Storjohann’s passion is focused on educating Gen Y in their financial journey. She encourages her clients to engage in an open conversation about money, savings, and ultimately creating a budget that works for their lifestyle.

A Q&A format led by the society’s co-presidents and the speaker of the month starts each workshop. An interactive discussion is then opened up to all members attending. Upcoming speakers include Finest City Improv owner, Amy Lisewski, who will discuss overcoming challenges in public speaking on September 10th.

All events will be recorded with a link posted for members who may not be able to make each event. Membership to the SOTGC Society is free. Articles written by contributors from a variety of careers are posted daily to the site and social media. Its SOTGC Society Launch Event was held June 5th at the University Club Atop Symphony Towers in downtown San Diego.
